I am proud to announce that I’m part of Jessica Whitman’s Wild One Blog tour! This is my very first time participating and I am so excited!
This sizzling New Adult novel follows Kat, a screenwriter and Sebastian, a polo player.
After being frowned upon for her latest work, Kat struggles to keep up with Hollywood life and is forced to look for other options. She then gets a call from her mother telling her that her father fell ill.
Flying back to Wellington, Kat takes up her mother’s job as a maid in the Del Campo household. But to her surprise, she has already met one of the boys.
Sebastian Del Campo. Sexy, swoon-worthy, and the ultimate ladies’ man. He always has it easy. That is, until he meets Kat.
As their routes intertwine, Kat finds herself sparking with ideas for a new movie. But she can’t do it without Sebastian’s help, and with a popular haughty actress on their side, things are just about to get wild..
This is such a refreshing take on the New Adult genre. It’s neither overly dramatic nor angsty. A very light, flirty read (and not to mention steamy). If it weren’t for the characters’ age, I’d say it’s more contemporary than New Adult.
I really like Kat’s persona. She’s a brilliant, strong-willed, and does not depend on anyone but herself. But, she does have quite a temper. As stark as she can get, I find it really easy to relate to her. More so, I love that Kat actually has a purpose in the book. It’s not often you come across a character who’s not a damsel in distress waiting for their knight in shining armour. No, Kat is nothing of the sort. She’s just your typical adult chasing after her dreams of become a hit Hollywood screenwriter, and this book shows just that. The story gives you a dose of real life, what it’s like to take risks and give chances, to make mistakes and help other people.
And then of course we have Sebastian. A drop-dead sexy polo player He did not appeal to me at the beginning, but once the story progresses and we get to learn more about him.. d a n g. You’ll fall hard.
But I have to say, the romance between the couple did escalate pretty quickly. It’s not a very long book but.. the pacing was a bit sped up. It’s a bit awkward to read about two people and their relationship together if you haven’t gotten the chance to read enough about either one.
On the other hand, I really, really like the Spanish references. Like I said earlier, it took on a new spin on the genre and it made the characters seem more interesting. Plus, I think Spanish is absolutely charming. It gives a romantic vibe to the storyline and makes the interactions between the couple more genuine and passionate.
Overall I really enjoyed the book. It stands out amongst all the other New Adult books I read because of how simple it actually is. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, Ride Free. I’ve read a preview of it and i’m so excited!
If you’re a fan of Abbi Glines, I highly recommend you give this book a try! Take a break from all the angst, you will not regret picking this one up.
